A picture speaks a thousand words.

Yes.

This is me.

Sewing.

The things we do for our art!
I knew I had to post the photo as I know alot of you would never have believed I did it myself.

And here is the LO that made me break my Grade 8 oath to NEVER EVER sew again (oath made just after I'd sewn the apron I was making to my school uniform that I was wearing).

Innocence

What can i say...stitching on layouts ROCKS.
It's a worthy oath-breaking act for the sake of art, in this case.
Not that you can see it in this picture...lol...but it was a very necessary addtion to the page.

Daddy took us to the Zoo.....

The day started with Esta doing her koala impersonation. She has been making sounds like a koala on heat for some time now. Practically all the way to the zoo she made those noises, we figured she knew she was heading 'home'. Method acting at it's best.

The weather was divine and we had a relaxed family day out which doesn't happen nearly enough around here. It was a day of seeing, hearing and tasting lots of new things for Little Esta.

Donkey was a bit scary, but the chick was worth a touch, and the enclosure was worth a taste.

We stared at the monkeys and they, in turn, completely ignored us. We did realise how much they look like our girls Uncles though. Esta was enthralled by the camels and didn't want to leave them. Maybe she saw a family resemblence there as well...

The Birthday Girl.

"Reach high for Stars lie hidden in your soul...."

It was one year ago that our little star came to us. Her arrival was no smooth event and we sure had to reach for high into the heavens to find her. But she came. And now she is 1 year old, in a blink of an eye. We've had a fabulous weekend celebrating too. Party in the park on her birthday, with fabulous friends, fabulous weather and fabulous fun. Esta arrived home looking like she'd just straggled home (quoting MM) "from a B&S ball". Party frock completely filthy, no shoes, wobbly stance and a huge exhausted grin.
The next day we went to the Zoo, a family tradition. Esta was enthralled by the animals, especially the big camels, enjoyed patting a very soft Alpaca, and cuddled a little baby chick. Another happy but exhausting day, quoting India now "That was a really really great day at the zoo".

And what has this new age milestone brought with it?
*Climbing *groan*. Suddenly her little legs are that much stronger that she can actually climb all the things she's been trying to.
*Mama...it's back again. Calling to Mama. It disappeared for awhile there but now she walks around the house calling for me and gives me a huge baby cuddle when she finds me (patting on the back and all).
*Jokes...sneaky peek-a-boos around the doorways, blowing raspberries on any piece of skin she can find. Following in big sister's steps after all.
*Speed. Running away from mum and dad, which apparently is very funny, especially when she has some toxic/dangerous/gross item in her hand preparing for a shove into the mouth.

Quote in title from Paula Vaull Starr. I think. If anyone can verify that please let me know.
Photos to follow soon.

Since I'm on a role now, having worked out Flickr and this blog AND have managed to meld them together, I thought I'd better add a few more while it all still works.

GROW
This page is my latest and I love it. Another fabulous photo courtesy of Megan Low. I'd recently discovered challenge blogs in the scrapbooking world so I thought I'd give it a go. This challenge was from One Little Word and the word of the month is..Grow.

Spirit
A very simple layout. But it says everything I wanted it too. Words from the Waterboys song The Whole of the Moon.

Playmates
Two cheeky girls. A fun page that was fun to do. Full of colour, just like my girls.

I Do believe in Fairies
This is another latest lo. And a little out of my comfort zone. I tried monoprinting in the background. You can't really see the pattern, unless you enlarge the photo (click on photo). I've wanted to do a fairy believe lo for India for a long time. We are often discussing if fairies are real, and after going around in circles we always end up with the concept that if you believe in them, they are real. So of course we believe! The lo didn't turn out as well as I'd liked though. It seems a little incomplete, or overdone, all at the same time. But India loves it, that's the main thing. And i had fun trying out new techniques.

A very important Addit.

Apparently MM ran 42.2 km in his marathon, not the mere 42km I mentioned earlier.
A huge apology to MM for skimping him out of an extra 0.2km worth of hero worship.
